Senior software engineer · Distributed systems · Product engineering
I’m Ayodeji Adeoti, a senior software engineer with 6+ years of experience designing distributed systems, backend platforms, cloud workflows, and full-stack products across languages and teams.
01 / Engineering work
Selected work across open-source infrastructure, distributed architecture, enterprise integration, data platforms, and full-stack delivery.
Built a competitive coding platform where software engineers settle disputes through head-to-head programming challenges, with automated evaluation, matchmaking, Elo rankings, and bot opponents.
Real-time coding duels · Automated code evaluation · Synthetic bot opponents
Contributing to a high-performance, in-memory vector database focused on concurrent data structures, memory efficiency, and fast similarity search.
Sub-second similarity search across 100K+ vectors
Building a self-hosted deployment platform with container orchestration, service management, deployment automation, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
From source to running service through one managed deployment workflow
Built enterprise integration frameworks, streaming health systems, bespoke data ingestion, and an AI-driven incident-management solution spanning observability, infrastructure, and software delivery tools.
100K+ daily API requests · 98% faster incremental syncs
Decomposed a monolithic system, built a high-throughput Firebase notification service, and expanded observability across production services.
1M+ daily events · $20K monthly cost reduction · 45% faster deployments
02 / Experience
Hands-on roles across platform integrations, property technology, consumer products, and enterprise software.
Port
Mar 2025 — Present
Partners with enterprise customers on technical workshops, solution design, and adoption. Designed an AI-driven incident-management system and delivered an executive demonstration portal that contributed to a $770K enterprise contract.
Port
Mar 2025 — Jul 2025
Built custom and experimental enterprise solutions, including streaming integration monitoring under strict resource constraints, catalogue-native health and throughput visibility, and integrations for proprietary data sources.
Port
Dec 2023 — Mar 2025
Built scalable DevOps integrations, incremental cloud synchronisation, container-registry ingestion, and shared service patterns. Later supported customer-success engineering with streaming integration health and bespoke data sources.
NextGenHomes
Jul 2023 — Sep 2023
Delivered a property-management platform for 10K+ records and property owners, including optimised data models, caching, extensible notifications, and an Angular application.
Matchday
Feb 2023 — Jul 2023
Led microservice decomposition, delivered a notification service processing over one million daily events, and introduced observability that expanded monitoring coverage by 200%.
Formplus
Nov 2021 — Feb 2023
Improved analytics performance from more than 30 seconds to subseconds, migrated core Python 2 services, built conversion-driving cart analytics, and secured storage handling 100K+ daily form submissions.
Early career
Jul 2019 — Sep 2021
Built and maintained production web applications, REST APIs, relational schemas, deployments, and user-facing products across backend and frontend systems.
03 / Engineering approach
Languages are implementation choices, not professional identities. I work from constraints—performance, operability, team context, and delivery needs—to the right stack.
Retries, rate limits, observability, data consistency, and failure modes shape the user experience as much as the interface does.
The best engineering decisions come from understanding product intent, operational constraints, and what teammates need to keep moving.
04 / Beyond the day job
These initiatives strengthen my product judgment and keep me connected to developers and users. My professional focus remains hands-on software engineering.
Independent product work
Exploring software and automation that help businesses operate more effectively.
Developer community
Hosting weekly sessions where software engineers share practical lessons and learn together.
Healthcare interoperability
Leading a volunteer initiative creating a practical specification for provider-HMO approvals, claims, referrals, and coordination in Nigeria.
Writing product
Building a product that helps writers move ideas from private drafts into shared work.
05 / How I show up
I’m happiest close to the code, working with a team on systems that matter.
Independent projects taught me initiative and follow-through. In an engineering role, that means understanding the wider problem, communicating trade-offs, and owning the result—not needing to run the room.
I work across languages and stacks, choosing Rust, TypeScript, Python, or another tool based on the system’s constraints. I enjoy collaborating across disciplines to turn ambiguous requirements into maintainable production systems.
06 / Curriculum vitae
Review my detailed work history, education, technical experience, and project record in one place.
Open my CV07 / Engineering opportunities
I’m open to senior software engineering roles focused on distributed systems, backend platforms, developer infrastructure, product engineering, and technically ambitious software.
